I’m putting out a video on my channel on Friday, February 19, 2021 about my ten favorite YouTubers, and it got me thinking… all the “big names” in the YouTube guitar world, um… how many guitarists actually know who they are? And how popular are they in comparison with each other? It has a lot to do with how long they’ve had a channel, but as a new YouTuber, I’m kind of interested in some things like “How many subs do you need to have companies start sending you gear” and “How many subs should you have before you can do livestreams” and other questions. Here are the subs for some of my fave YouTube guitarists (as of February 18, 2021):
- Rhett Shull: 315k
- Chad Boston: 4.4k
- Dave Simpson: 81.5k
- Jack Fossett: 12.9k
- Johan Segeborn: 81.3k
- Mary Spender: 448k
- Paul Davids: 2.21M
- Pete Thorn: 213k
- Phillip McKnight: 297k
- Peter Honore: 82.9k
- Rabea Massaad: 304k
- Rick Beato: 2.15M
- Rob Chapman: 747k
- Tim Pierce: 286k
This is NOT a competition, but I do find it interesting to see the kinds of subs my fave channels are getting. Mary Spender has a massive following – bigger than I realized, I guess. I think guys like Chad Bostoon and Jack Fossett both deserve more subs than they have. I didn’t put Adam Neely on this list because he’s a bass player, but he’s got a huge following.
The lowest number on that list is 4,400 subs. I’d LOVE to have that many. One day…
