Full Disclosure – The original post on this page was made on February 23, 2020.  So I’ve rewritten the page to tell how the story ended.  In February, I planned on buying the Pod Go.  In May, I ordered one online, only to have the order canceled because the store advertising it for sale didn’t have any.  I repeated this process 7 times, because I’m a slow learner.  Each time the store said they had it, and then each time they canceled my order.

Covid-19 was the reason there were no Pod Gos in the pipeline.  Meanwhile, Sam Ash put the HX Stomp on sale for $599, and I bought that instead.  Why?  The biggest reason was that it has MIDI ports, which I need.

Since the Pod Go and the HX Stomp have 98% of the same sounds and work the same way, I can tell you that the Pod Go is a STEAL.  People say the Helix is almost as good as the Kemper, but not quite as good.  But the Pod Go costs 1/4 the price of a Kemper AND has a foot pedal and a bunch of switches.

You’re probably here because you want to read something good about the Pod Go.  Maybe you just bought one, maybe you’re thinking about buying one.  Here’s the deal.  Most of the presets on the Pod Go aren’t very good in my opinion.  But if you take the time to make your own patches OR download some really good patches others have made, and you learn the unit really well, you’ll get fantastic results.

I made a video on the budgetguitarist.com YouTube channel demonstrating the Strat sounds I made on my HX Stomp and how they’re put together – that’s a decent way to hear the Pod Go, because everything I did in my Strat patches can be done on the Pod Go.  Check it out if you’re interested:
