This is an “alpha” mix of the song “Half a Treat” from my upcoming album “Songs About Dogs.” An alpha mix is basically a very, very early mix in which nothing has been fine-tuned yet – there’s much more work to be done, but the mix is good enough to share. “Songs About Dogs” is my attempt to come up with an entire album where every song is written in a different genre, and all the songs are about dogs. It’s also an “all ages” album, so it’s appropriate for kids all the way through senior citizens.
Half a Treat (Jazz)
Lyrics:
Times are hard I know they are
That’s why you’re driving that ancient car
I’ve got an idea that won’t set you back much
even though I know, you’re broke, and such
But dog treats are inexpensive, it’s true
If you don’t have a treat, then half a treat will do
You know I normally leave you alone
I don’t bark much when you’re on the phone
I do my business outside like a good dog should
But I’ve got a request, so if you would
You’re busy on the laptop but when you’re through
If you don’t have a treat, then half a treat will do
I see there’s food in the refrigerator
But I’m not that much of a negotiator
I’ve got some dog food and that’s just fine
But a treat would just be so divine
Don’t make me whine
Times are hard I know they are
That’s why you’re driving that Flintstones car
I’ve got an idea that won’t set you back much
Even though I know, you’re broke, and such
But dog treats are inexpensive, it’s true
if you don’t have a treat, then half a treat will do
