THIS tool is a no-brainer for anyone who wants to do anything from basic setup to refretting on their guitar. The notched straight edge allows you to test the flatness of a guitar neck’s fretboard, as well as the straightness of the frets themselves. Most of the Amazon guitar luthiers tools I find are 25 to 30% cheaper than the same type of tool on StewMac. But this thing wins the award for best value. It sells for $17. The StewMac version sells for around $80! And they’re both dead flat perfect, which is what you want.
I won’t say this item has the same level of quality as the StewMac version, because I’ve never actually held the StewMac version. This item does have some corners that are maybe, just maybe a little teeny bit sharp. Not sharp enough to easily cut you, but sharp enough that you don’t want to accidentally ding your neck with it. You need to be careful with it. But it’s a very small problem when you consider how much cheaper this item is than the StewMac version. I love deals like this!
