Greg Koch is a big name in some guitar circles, but many have not heard of him. If you don’t know who he is, you’re missing out. Fortunately Greg does product demos for Wildwood Guitars, and he’s become one of my fave YouTube gear demo players.
Most guitar demos are some metalhead meathead shredding as fast as they can with a dirt box and amp distortion making sure to cover up the fact that they’re only picking one out of every 8 notes. OK, I’m being unkind – I like plenty of metalhead players. But if you listen to more than one style of music, you come to appreciate the coolness and skill of the country players, the jazz players, the guys who do classic rock perfectly, and so on. Greg can do all of those things and usually does, all in the same video. This particular video is a demonstration of that. If you’re an open minded guitarist who likes more than one style, you’ll hear a lot of super cool licks in this clip. This clip is an education on how to play the Strat. I love this guy, and you will too.
And I think he’s funny as hell. You may or may not agree. But there’s no denying that he’s a killer player we all can learn from.
