In November, 2013, I wrote the very first blog post on my new website, budgetguitarist.com. It was a review of Fender’s Highway One Stratocaster. A used American Strat with a hard case for $450. I miss 2013.
Some of my friends told me that I’d probably lose interest in about a month and shut down the site. HA! 5 years later and the site is going strong.
I’m a web developer/designer by trade, and this is a low traffic site. I’ve only recently started to put ads on the site, the proceeds of which go to pay for my website hosting, basically. Around a thousand people a week visit the site – small numbers for a website, but big numbers for me when I think about it. Over the past five years, more than a quarter million people have read my site. I can’t begin to tell you how grateful I am for each and every visitor. Thank you, sincerely.
My goal is to continue to improve the site, and to continue to write honest reviews about products and give you my honest opinions on all things guitar. If you have any topics you’d like to see covered here, please email me at: richard@richardmac.com
A few surprising stats jumped out to me as I looked over the 5 year Google Analytics reports. The big thing for me was to see that a little less than half of my visitors live in the United States. Half of my audience is international. That makes me super happy! Half of my visitors over the past 5 years uses Chrome, with the other browsers making up the other half. Windows is the most popular OS, but iOS comes in second, Android third, and the Mac OS fourth. Site visitors are a bell curve when it comes to ages, between 18 and 65+. And gender is embarrassing – 96% male and 4% female. I need to work on that.
Anyway, again, I want to say thank you for visiting my site. As I continue to learn more about guitars, amps, and pedals, I will continue to blog here. I wouldn’t be able to do this without an audience. Thanks again.
🙂
